What is TMC?
TMC (Traffic Message Channel) is an application for broadcasting real-time traffic information. This information is transmitted by radio stations in almost all countries in Europe. Both quality and frequency of the TMC messages may vary per country.
If public TMC data is broadcast, your Mio will automatically decode this information and filter them according to your route, thus turning it into relevant traffic information.
If an incident on your route is reported, your Mio device will receive it within 30 seconds of its broadcast. Depending on the settings on your device, your route will be recalculated or you will carry on following the existing route regardless of the obstruction ahead.
Note that not every situation leads to a route recalculation. This will only happen if it is possible to create a new route that is faster than the old route along which a TMC event is located. Please check your user manual for more information on your TMC settings and how to adjust them.
